Developer Related Midwest plans to build two waterfront towers on the former site of the defunct Chicago Spire, Curbed Chicago has reported.

The developer proposed the gleaming glass and terra-cotta towers at 400 N. Lake Shore Drive.

Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), the towers feature slender, cascading silhouettes, creating breathtaking views of the city and lake while transforming the downtown skyline.

The plan calls for a 1,100-ft. southern tower containing 300 condo units and 175 hotel rooms and an adjoining 850-foot tower with 550 rental apartments.

Related Midwest intends to break ground on both towers in the summer of 2019 and deliver the project in 2023.
